Access to the Port of Durrës – Routes Leading to the Port
The Port of Durrës provides several access points for passengers and vehicle drivers travelling to the ports of Bari and Ancona (Italy).
Access to the Ferry Terminal is available through Gate No. 2, Gate No. 3 and Gate No. 4, where passengers must present their personal passport and travel ticket to the FSPD officers.
Gate No. 3 – For Pedestrian Passengers
Located within the building of the Durrës Railway Station, Gate No. 3 is used by pedestrian passengers who are not travelling with vehicles.
After entering through this gate, passengers may use the pedestrian overpass which leads directly to the Ferry Terminal.
Gate No. 4 – For Passengers Travelling with Vehicles
Located near the Dajlani Bridge, Gate No. 4 is the most frequently used access point for all passengers arriving at the port by car or truck.
This gate is mainly used by passengers arriving from Kosovo, North Macedonia, as well as from other cities across Albania.
Gate No. 2 – Access for Local Passengers
Gate No. 2 is located opposite the building of the Bank of Albania.
This access point is used by passengers arriving from neighbourhoods of the city of Durrës, together with their vehicles, in order to reach the Ferry Terminal.
“Mother Teresa” International Airport
In line with the traditional saying “All roads lead to Durrës”, the port city represents an important hub for road, maritime and railway transport.
Tirana International Airport “Mother Teresa” is located approximately 30 km from the Port of Durrës.
Thanks to the modern Tirana–Durrës motorway, travel between the two points is fast and convenient.
From the airport to the Port of Durrës, the following services are available:
- 24-hour taxi service
- Car rental services (rent-a-car)
Passengers may follow the direction towards the Tirana–Durrës motorway and, at the Vora roundabout or Qafë Kashar interchange, take the route towards Gate No. 4.
Motorway and International Connections
As Albania’s main maritime gateway, the Port of Durrës is the first entry point to the Adriatic Sea, making it a key trade hub for the region.
Its geostrategic location makes the port a valuable alternative for landlocked countries such as Kosovo and North Macedonia, which benefit from its transport and logistics services.
Durrës–Kukës–Kosovo Motorway
This major engineering project facilitates communication and cooperation between Albania and Kosovo, significantly reducing transport costs and strengthening economic and trade relations.
