To enhance landside infrastructure and improve the flow of heavy vehicles toward the Rapiscan S2 Albania scanner and the Eastern Terminal, the Port Authority of Durrës has implemented a modernization project that includes:
- Asphalt paving of the Rapiscan – Port Authority – Eastern Terminal access road
- Expansion of the TIR Parking Area with an additional 5,880 m²
The TIR Parking Area, operated by the Port Authority of Durrës, currently covers a total surface area of 22,779 m².
The newly expanded section is designated for heavy vehicles not subject to scanning procedures, helping to reduce congestion and avoid unnecessary traffic toward Gate No. 4. It also serves as a dedicated resting area for import and export trucks.
The TIR Parking Area is conveniently located near the scanner, on the right-hand side of Gate No. 4.
