Policy on Sensitive Discussions in the Workplace

At the Durrës Port Authority (DPA), we value the diversity and individuality of our employees — both professionally and personally — including their opinions, beliefs and affiliations.

This diversity is a fundamental value that contributes to the success and development of our organisation. However, discussions of a sensitive nature, such as political, religious, racial, gender-related, or any other type of sensitive topic, may create distractions and negatively affect the Quality, Safety, and Productivity of work at the DPA.


DPA Approach

Sensitive discussions in the workplace may:

  • create tensions or misunderstandings among employees;
  • affect focus and work efficiency;
  • create unfair perceptions of favouritism or discrimination;
  • or endanger the reputation and integrity of the institution.

For this reason, the DPA requires that all sensitive discussions do not take place within the workplace or in the institution’s shared spaces.


DPA Guidelines

Employees are encouraged to demonstrate care, respect, and sensitivity towards the opinions and beliefs of their colleagues.

If discussions on political, religious, or other sensitive topics are desired, these must take place outside DPA premises and outside official working hours.

All communication within the DPA workplace must remain focused on professional duties and the achievement of the institution’s shared objectives.

Tolerance, respect, and professionalism are the values that should guide every interpersonal interaction at work.
