In the General Cargo Terminal, administered by DPA, more goods and vessels have been handled in the first six months of this year than in the same period of the last year.
From the Statistics Sector in the DPA, has lnoticed that in January-June 2019, in the Western Terminal Quays (as it is otherwise known), 368.982 tons of different import-export goods were handled.
According to the same source, during the same period of year 2018, were handled 315,390 tonnes of cargo from 120 vessels, or 53,592 tonnes and 17 vessels less than the volume and the number of vessels handled in the 6- month period of the 2019.
This year’s figures are even higher than those of 2017 – the sources explained, offering another datum: The average amount of goods handled by each vessel during this 6-month period of 2019 is estimated at 2,693 tonnes / vessel, whereas last year it did not exceed the average of 2,628 tonnes / vessel.
