Four years ago, the official news agency ATA,(Albanian Teleghraphic Agency), donated to Durres Port Authority, a collection of historic port photographs taken by the prominent photographers Arben Cela and Mihal Progonati.
The images date back to the 1960s and 1970s, although referring to “Port along the years” retrospective data, they evidence the quays 2-8 construction period, spanning from1950-1968.
In 1968, the deepening of the port’s old inlet channel was completed, which as stated by the afore mentioned evidence, used to have northward direction.
At the time, the inlet channel was subject to significant upgrade with a general expansions of 60 meters, namely 9.5 meters deep and 1.2 miles long.
Synchronously, according to the “Port along the years” historical, the first ”made in Albania”, electric crane was produced.
