KFOR representatives met with the Durres Port Authority, CEO-Mr. Pirro Vengu. The visit took place in the framework of discussions on key security issues, as well as on the progress and further support and cooperation of DPA with KFOR structures.
The meeting was also attended by the Kosovo Ambassador in Tirana, Mr.Nait Hasani and the Kossovo Embassy military attaché Mr. Union Shillova. Following the welcome remarks Mr.Vengu ensured longstanding support and strengthening cooperation with KFOR structures aiming improved integrated border management and increased efficiency in coordinating law enforcement agencies operating in port areas.
During the visit, a group of eleven servicemen, led by Col. Markus Hofler was briefed on the operational potential of the country’s largest port as well as the adopted security measures and future prospectives regarding security standards and procedures foreseen to be implemented in the port area. The meeting was also attended by the Commander of the Albanian Naval Force, Mr. Edison Hoxha. Subsequently the KFOR delegation was accompanied to visit the port’s General Cargo Terminal.
