Quays 1 & 2, the project to increase processing capacity

Quays 1 & 2 in the port of Durres will be subject to the implementation of a project that provides increasing processing capacity vessels, increasing the depth so that larger boats can be anchored in these quays, so in this way increasing the holding capacity of thr quays.

These quays belong to the General Goods Terminal, also known as the Western Terminal.

The project developed by the company “Sellhorn Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH” defines the main characteristics of these quays:

  • The length of the quays is 500 m and the width is 30 m, resulting in adding a new surface area of 15000 m2
  • Projected depth – 11.50 m
  • Load uniformly distributed on the quays- 4 tons / m2

The project foresees the construction of new quays in front of the existing ones. The implementation of this project will be funded from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),, as well as from a grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The Passenger Terminal in the Port of Durres hase been funded earlier by BERZH (and the BEI) and also the project for the Rehabilitation of quay 7 and 8 has been realized.
